This cache is placed as part of the Great Lakes Seaway Trail
Geotrail, located within the Eastern Lake Erie Region. There are 15
caches hidden within this region, and geocachers finding ten or
more Great Lakes Seaway Trail Geotrail caches within this region
can earn a free Eastern Lake Erie Region geocoin. If you are

Logbook. This cache contains a unique hole punch which must stay
with the cache. Use this hole punch in space #10 on the Eastern
Lake Erie Region page of your Official Great Lakes Seaway Trail
Logbook. This hole punch is NOT a trade item. Log books can be
picked up locally at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center at the
entrance to Presque Isle. The Tom Ridge Environmental Center(TREC)
was named after a former governor of Pennsylvania and the first
head of Homeland Security. Mr. Ridge is from Erie. This center is
open daily almost year round and contains environmental displays as
related to nearby Presque Isle State Park, (0.5 miles)a tower for
scenic viewing and laboratories for various environmental
programs(fish, flowers, etc). Entry is free. There are rest rooms,
a cafeteria,a wide screen movie theater, and a gift shop. Plenty of
free parking and nearby caches . There is a bike trail on the park
with free boat rides(summer), 11 beaches, lighthouses, woodland
trails and plenty of caches. Across the street is Waldemeer
Amusement park complete with a water park and roller coaster. No
night caching. Approach it from the south side so as to not damage
any bushes or grasses. The landscape is left natural to encourage
butterfiles, bees, birds etc.
