Geocache Description:

Eel tarn lies at an altitude of just over 200metres, above the Woolpack Inn in Eskdale. A good track leads from behind the Woolpack to the tarn. The tarn has an area of about 3.9acres, and a depth of only 6 foot or so. (This fact has not been confirmed by personal on the job research !). There is a good display of water lillies in the summer. The name Eel apparently means 'steep'; although that must refer to the approach walk, as, like most sheets of water, the tarn itself is fairly flat ! Neither is the walk to the tarn particularly long or steep.

The cache itself is a small box containing only a log book and pencil. No tat. There is room for small trackables.

The cache is placed with the permision of the National Trust.
