David Crockett, pioneer, soldier, politician, and industrialist, was born near the little town of Limestone in northeast Tennessee in 1786. In 1817, he moved to Lawrence County and served as a justice of the peace, a colonel of the militia and as a state representative. Crockett died at the Alamo Mission in March of 1836 while aiding the Texans in their fight for independence from Mexico.
Located on the new Hwy 64 bypass at the Lawrence and Giles County line. Paved pulloff within 20 feet of the cache. It is located on the east bound side but travelers in the west bound lane have a connector directly in front of the cache. This cache is named in honor of David Crockett who lived and worked in Lawrence County and this location is known as Powder Mill Hill.
