Geocache Description:

Micro cache placed in a suburban area of Pinner.

This cache is placed on the junction of Hereford Gardens and Cannon Lane at the point where the road is bridged over the River Pinn. Afraid that this one probably isn't suitable for wheelchair users due to the location of the cache.

Cannon Lane is one of the oldest roads in the area along with the nearby Rayners Lane (previously named Bourne Lane). During the 19th century, Downs Farm was on Cannon Lane with land on either side.

Across Cannon Lane from the coordinates there are three stone plaques set into the bridge. The largest reads:

"This Bridge was rebuilt from the foundation att the Voluntary and sole cost of the R Honble Grace, Lady Hunsdon in the Month of Sept. Anno Dni 1728" (sic)

However, this is not that bridge, as a second stone states "Bridge Rebuilt 1938". It should also be noted that during that period a mark similar to an "f" was considered to be an "s", and so the markings read much more straight forward that you'd first think. The main stone was listed in 1983 as Grade II.

Today the area is residential, with Pinner Village Gardens, a popular park for dog walkers just a hundred metres or so further down Hereford Gardens, and a local pub just around the corner.
