UPDATE!!
My last set of coords were WAY off! I have taken new coords and updated the clues. If you DNF this one try again!
In a nature preserve is the well preserved Wallace Cemetery which is over 125 years old. The coords are for the cemetery itself. Park at the nature preserve then take to foot down the groomed trail to the cemetery. Once there get the info for the second leg.
(You can make it to the cemetery the hard way if you would like to climb a hill.)
The second leg to the cache is short and a bit off the beaten path. To find the actual cache (a plasticware box) and the log book use the info on the sign at the listed coords to decode the coords below:
N 39 03.ABE
W 88 42.DDC
Codes:
A. Use the number of letters in the MONTH the cemetery was founded.
B. Add the two digits of the DATE the cemetery was founded.
C. Number of letters in the first name of the civil war vet mentioned on the sign.
D. Use the last digit of the year the cemetery was founded.
E. Subtract the first digit of the DATE the cemetery was founded from the second digit of the DATE the cemetery was founded.
Find the cache, sign the log and leave a trinket or two. Feel free to enjoy the other trails!
Original contents in the cahe included:
An "End of the Road" by Tom Bodett cassette tape
A Trail Map
A Nature Center info pamphlet
Log Book
Harley Davison Pen
All wrapped up in resealable freezer bag
UPDATE 7-16-11 - New "Cartoon Bomb" 3" PVC cach container to replace a leaky cache. This one should last!
If you want to find another "treasure" see if you can find the "Troll Bridge" on one of the trails and leave a toll for the troll.
Update 9-20-2010 - Congrats to peeprox & magikands on a tag team FTF. I guess it helps if the coords are right!
