No this is not a cache for trading skimpy underwear. This cache is placed just off of the "Thong trail" in the Little Sac Woods conservation area. The trail is named after the "Thong trees" that dot the sides of the trail
So you may be asking yourself just what is a thong tree? There are a number of theories but the prevailing one seems to be that the Native Americans (mostly the Osage) "shaped" these trees to point to important locations. They would bend a sapling (usually an oak) over and tie it down with a piece of leather (called a thong) and let it grow that way. The tree would basically look like an "L" lying on its side.
The trails from parking to cache can be a little rough. it will probably involve crossing small streams, poison ivy, snakes, ticks, etc. as well as drastic changes in elevation. But don't let that discourage you, we have been hiking these trails with our 2 small kids for several years
This cache is a big lock n lock wrapped in digital camo tape placed about 85 bushwhacking feet away from one of the most impressive Thong Trees on the trail.
I added a small bag of silica desiccant to help keep the cache dry .. it looks kinda like a beanbag... please do not take it, open it, or eat it .. thank you :)
It contains all sorts of goodies, but may not include a pen, so you should bring your own just in case.
