Out for a drive through the valleys this afternoon and came around a corner with this church and cemetary in such a beautiful peaceful setting that we decided to bring others down here to enjoy the gentle peace found here.
Skogdalen Lutheran cemetary lies between Portland, Coon Valley and Westby just off Cty. P. the church capstone bears the year 1900 and the church itself features some very nice stain glass windows while the cemetary lies next to a pasture and trout stream. Some of the gravestones we observed as we wanderered the site ranged from the 1900's to present day as the church is still active.
As this is classified as a cemetery cache please note it is NOT hidden on any grave marker or site. If there is a service going on, or folks are visiting their loved ones when you arrive please be respectful and come back at a later time. Your understanding and compassion for those folks will be appreciated."
