The cache is a camoflaged regular sized lock n lock container.

This series of caches placed along Torrington’s John Muir trail is in honor of Nature and the importance of keeping a close connection with her. Each cache is named for a John Muir quote. All caches in this series are within 50’ of the trail.

The John Muir Trail is a 2.1-mile, blue blazed trail through Paugnut State Forest connecting Sunny Brook State Park to Burr Pond in Torrington, CT. For a map of the trail go to (visit link) You can park at either end of the trail. If you park at Sunny Brook State Park on Newfield Road, cross the road to begin the trail on the south side of the bridge. Another option is to park at the end of Starks Hill Road, walk 0.2 miles east to the trailhead, which will be on your right.

John Muir (21 April 1838 – 24 December 1914) was one of our country’s first conservationists. He founded the Sierra Club, was an advocate for setting up many national parks, and is well known for his writings about people’s relationship with nature. Several trails in the US are named for John Muir, the longest being in California with a length of 211 miles.
