High School Butte Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Heartland Cacher: Greetings from Geocaching.com I'm Heartland Cacher, one of the volunteer reviewers for new caches submitted to Geocaching.com from Nebraska and Wyoming.

It has been a while since I first looked at this cache. I can't find any recent responses about maintaining this cache soon so it will be archived and removed from the active cache listings.

When you have repaired this cache, drop me a line and I can review it again for listing on the geocaching.com site. Caches archived three months or more may need to be resubmitted as a new cache.

If you don't care to continue on with this project, please remove any remaining cache bits from the area.

Thanks for your understanding,
Heartland Cacher

Geocache Description:

Park at the Middle School N43 27.804' W110 48.272
Depending on your physical shape this cache can be hard or easy hike. This cache is not very far but uphill the entire way. Completing the trip up and down can be done in less than an hour. If you decide to do this cache you’ll be climbing 687 feet in elevation. The top of the Butte is 6,732ft. If you’re acclimatized to a lower altitude you might experience a little difficulty breathing the thinner air. Remember to bring plenty of water and rest often. This hike is a popular trail used by locals working out while excising their dogs. If you bring a dog, please have them on a leash. You might come across some paragliders that hike this butte, and then fly down. They catch thermals coming off the mountain. The Butte contains 11 switch-backs. At the end of #11 the trail continues in a straight line to the top. The path is marked well, and we ask that you please stay on it. (No short Cuts!) Coming down can be more difficult on your legs. I would not recommend this hike if you have bad knees. Making it to the top it will be well worth your effort. You’ll be able to see why it's called Jackson Hole! The cache is not far from here. Please, when taking a travel bug replace it with another.
