This is the 19th in my series of hides near fire lookouts. Here you will find King Mtn. Lookout, 6678', in the Malheur National Forest.
Started in the 1920's with a cupola cabin, the present 10' steel live-in tower was constructed in 1957. It hasn't been regularly used for a long time. Amazingly (as of this writing) only one window has been broken!
The access road is smooth going until the last 3/4 mile or so, then it's muddy and rocky to the summit. I wouldn't suggest trying this one in the winter.
