The NightFox: So sad to see this one go. Of all my caches in the canyon that were potentially in the path of the fire's destruction, this one was the one I was hoping would be left. The fire maps had seen showed the fire coming right up to about where these trees were so it was maybe a 50/50 chance.
Unfortunately, the fire came right up to these great old trees and stopped right there. Had they been another 50 feet they may have made it. All that's left are two big holes in the ground.
Thanks to all who came and risked their lives to get this cache.

Geocache Description:

This cache is not for everyone. Unless you are very confident in your climbing skills do not go after this one.
I gave it a 3.5/4.5 rating for a reason. If you don't like difficult caches, then pass this one by.

Park at the Blackhawk Trail trailhead.

I make no guarantee as to the safety level of the tree. It is old and dead and the branches on it may or may not be safe to climb on. Underneath the tree are rocks and other dead trees/branches - not a place you want to land. Pursue this cache at your own risk.

Adding to the difficulty, there are several dead trees next to each other. You have to decide which tree to try.

You must sign your name on the log to claim a find on this cache. I will be checking on this cache periodically and if your name is not on the logsheet, your online log will be deleted. On some of my other caches, I would let things like "I forgot a pen" slide, but not on this one.

These are the trees you're up against. The cache is in one of them. They are larger and taller than they appear in the picture.

Log only cache. BYOP.
