Geocache Description:

The purpose of this cache is to highlight a Boy Scout Eagle Project. There is an Eagle Project nearby. The intent is to create 12 of these caches near eagle projects throughout the Great Salt Lake Council, one for each point of the Scout Law. This cache is for Helpful.

Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21 merit badges, each Scout must complete a project that requires him to demonstrate the ability to organize and lead others. Many thousands of hours of service are provided to communities and organizations around the country each year through eagle projects. This cache is part of a nationwide geocaching series called "Cache to Eagle" that showcases these special contributions.

The picture is of the roadside marker for the Mercur Cemetery. The actual cemetery is about 360 feet to the south. The cache is just over 500 feet north of the marker due to other caches in the area. For his Eagle Project a Boy Scout from West Jordan cleaned up the litter in the area, repaired fence posts, leveled and graveled the parking area and arranged the concrete blocks and cable around the parking area. He arranged for assistance and financial support and for the donation of labor and equipment to complete the project.

The cache container holds several scout patches including one Cache to Eagle patch. Also in the cache is a BSA Get in the Game geocoin for the first to find.
