Skookum Bear: As the cache owner has not indicated that they have visited the cache location to replace it if it was missing, perform needed maintenance, or verify that it is still there within a reasonable amount of time, I am regretfully archiving the cache to clear it from the active cache database and open the area to new caching opportunities. If the cache owner would like to replace a cache at this location, please submit a new geocache listing and it will be reviewed under the current Geocaching guidelines.

Please do not respond to this note by sending an email reply - your response will go to an unmonitored location and disappear into the ether instead of being sent to me. If you need to contact me regarding this cache, please do so using the link on my Profile Page

Geocache Description:

This cache is found at the Baseball field at UBC. It is an easy walk right up to cache. If there is a game or practice going on at the field please avoid trying to find the cache as there is very little cover in the area of the cache. It is also right near the bull pen so there may be many players hanging out right near the cache.

The UBC Baseball program was started in 1997 and joined the NAIA for there first official season in 2000. In a short ten year period the UBC thunderbirds have appeared at the NAIA World Series once and have had a number of players drafted to play professional baseball. The most notable of the T-Birds alumni is Jeff Francis who now pitches for the Colorado Rockies. The Baseball program has also produced one Olympian Brooks McNiven who represented Canada at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The program is continuing to grow and it is the best college baseball program in Canada. This field plays host to some of the baseball teams home games while the others are played at Nate Baily Stadium. It also hosts the annual alumni weekend when all past players come back for a weekend to relive the glory days.
