A spot just south of Ohaupo
This spot has a great view of Mt Pirongia and needed a cache. I have been unable to find out the history of this spot as Waipa County did not have any records that I could find. It is a resting spot of early Bohemian residents of the area. Von Tempsky and his rangers were given land in the area for their effort in the Land Wars of the 1860s but as it was thick bush and swamp alot of them went to Puhoi to settle. Some returned to the area and Ohaupo was known as the Bohemian village for sometime. In 1980 the Waikato Diocesan placed the large cross here in memory to the deceased priests of Hamilton Small m & m container supplied by Cashkids with log and pencil only. Painted green And Ohaupo means Nightwind in Maori
