Geocache Description:

[ENG] Vanemuine, a literal translation from Estonian: Eldermost is a theatre in Tartu, Estonia. It is the first Estonian language theatre, founded as the Vanemuine Society (Vanemuise Selts) on June 24, 1865 following the idea of Johann Voldemar Jannsen. In 1869 Vanemuine Society organised the first song festival in Estonia. On June 24, 1870, the fifth anniversary of the society, a play called "The cousin from Saaremaa" ("Saaremaa Onupoeg") by Lydia Koidula was performed, marking the beginning of the Estonian national theatre and the theatre Vanemuine.

The monument is dedicated to Eduard Tubin (1905-1982), an Estonian composer.

You can listen to his music for 10 minutes at 12:30 and/or 18:30, or a recitative on the hour.

Take Your own pen!!!

[EST] Vanemuise teatri sünniks loetakse Lydia Koidula "Saaremaa onupoja" lavastamist mängu- ja lauluseltsis "Vanemuine" 24. juunil 1870. aastal. Esialgu tegutses teater "Vanemuise" seltsi majas ning 1906. aastast uues juugendstiilis teatrihoones. Maja hävis Teises maailmasõjas ning teater kolis endise saksa teatri hoonesse, mida nimetatakse praegu "Vanemuise" väikeseks majaks. Hävinud maja kohal avati 1967. aastal uus teatrihoone.

Eduard Tubina monument on pühendatud eesti helilooja Eduard Tubina mälestusele. Monument avati 19. juunil 2005. Monument asub Tartus Vanemuise teatri uue maja ees. Monumendi autorid on skulptor Aili Vahtrapuu, arhitekt Veronika Valk ja heliinstallatsiooni looja Louis Dandrel. Monumendi valas pronksi ARS Monumentaal ja ehitustööd platsil tegi OÜ Tavt. Monument on varustatud Eduard Tubina muusikaga.

Monumendil on neli helikuvandit:
Kaks korda päevas, 12.30 ja 18.30 kümme minutit E. Tubina loomingut,
Igal täistunnil E. Tubina teoste põhine retsitatiiv,
Etenduste alguse ja vaheaegade märguanne,
12 gongi löömisega vaataja poolt esilekutsutav E. Tubina teoste erinevate helirühmade ja sõnade (Juhan Liiv) kumulatiivne sümbioos igal ajahetkel tšellist Toomas Velmeti valikus ja stuudiorežiis. Võta oma pliiats kaasa!!!
