Scipio Page, a freed slave, fought in the Revolutionary War.
On December 11th, 1783 he married Diner Colby. They were married by Jeremiah Page, Justice of the Peace (Molly Stark's brother) in Dunbarton, New Hampshire. Molly was the wife of General John Stark of Revolutionary War fame.
The proprietors of Dunbarton granted Scipio 13 acres of land in the One Stack Common Lands in 1788 (which is in the general area of this cache).
He remained there with his family for a time, before moving back to the welcoming home of Captain Caleb Page (Molly's father).
Take the yellow painted trail from the parking area, then remain on the old "tote" road (yellow painted).
