Geocache Description:

This is a seriers of 18 caches on a 5.5 mile circle route from Wellesbourne to charlcote and back to wellesbourne. The caches are named after real peoples funny or unusual names. The 5.5 mile route has only 1 stile to get over and no animals in the fields your have to cross (At present)Very dog friendly.
From Wellesbourne, a Warwickshire village that has its own large airfield, the route soon leads out into open countryside with far-off views. Field- and woodland paths follow to reach a lengthy stretch on a farm drive that runs alongside fields and meadows and from whence the spires of the nearby Hampton Lucy can be seen. The lovely village of Charlecote has some charming old cottages and houses and the historic Charlecote House stands in wonderful deer parkland, landscaped by Capability Brown. It is a National Trust property that draws many visitors, the beautiful Tudor house having had strong associations with both Queen Elizabeth I and Shakespeare. It is but a mile back to Wellesbourne from here and the route follows the course of the River Dene, eventually to cross it on a large footbridge before following the narrow path that leads into the churchyard at Wellesbourne.
The route is :-
1 Take Warwick Road and walk past the garage and along to where there are
new houses.
2 Turn right on signed footpath and follow it along with hedge on left to cross a footbridge. Continue over field to
gap in hedge, then go on over next field to meet hedge corner. Walk with hedge on right and through a small gap to continue.
3 On reaching an opening on the right, bear left over field to corner, then follow hedge on right, again alongside next field on an incline. Turn right with line of hedge into next
field, then turn right onto woodland path. Come out into the open above a downward sloping field and walk with hedge on left, to come to a spinney.
4 Turn left opposite small opening and find a hidden bridleway sign, head diagonally left over meadow to a telegraph pole in corner, then follow hedge on right.
5 Turn right on track where there is a large oak and follow it along to Middle Hill Farm. Turn left on signed path through middle of farm buildings, then continue on hard drive past farmhouse. Track runs alongside fields for some distance before reaching road.
6 Cross and take the stile almost opposite, then walk on the right of chain-link fencing alongside two large fields.
7 Come out at another road to turn left, then almost immediately right, on hard track. The spires of Hampton Lucy Church rise above the trees and further to the left is
the small spire of Charlecote Church.
8 Reach a red-brick building and turn left to pass it, then go over track to kissing-gate beside smaller building. Follow
fence line on right in long meadow.
9 Turn left on reaching a large willow where several paths meet, to take the kissing-gate and walk above a lake in which there are small islands. Continue along field edge,
passing a gap on right to reach another kissing-gate. Turn right through it on well-trodden path and along to the road.
10 Turn left along pavement into Charlecote, with parkland on Turn right opposite The Malthouse and walk along to pass the Charlecote Pheasant Hotel opposite St Leonard's Church. Walk on, to cross large stone bridge and along to bend in road.
11 Cross over and take signed path on left and follow fence-line on track, turning left to follow fence line then right with hedge on the left. Follow the course of the river,
keeping fence line on the right, to pass sewage works Arrive at kissing-gate where water gushes out into the river below, then continue on narrow secluded path to pass
a weir. Go on beside river under road-bridge and continue over wild meadow.
12 Take left fork and turn left a little further on, to cross a large footbridge, then continue on hard path that leads
into graveyard of Wellesbourne Church. Walk along to gate into Church Street and turn left to start of walk
