Geocache Description:

This is to celebrate my first cache hide in conjunction with my 100th find. It is located just off a walking path around Chadwick Lake. I made this cache a kid friendly cache, fun to find and they can hopefully find some nice swag inside :-)

DO NOT park/stop on Route 32 to access the cache. There is parking right near the access path.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A couple of years ago they created a walking path that circled the park. It is approx. 4 miles around the lake. It is a lovely walk with some great views. I placed this cache in the South East section of the loop, with easy access from the Town Rec parking lot. You can enter the Rec parking lot from either St-32 or St-300.

The terrain rating can be a little higher, or a little lower, depending on the path you choose for the last 45 feet to get to the cache. Some stealth may be required as you will still be in view of the walking path, but you should have a decent line of site to both sides of the path from the cache site. You are looking for a Lock & Lock with some swag for trade. Enjoy!!!

You really should continue North on the path for ~500 feet and take in the view of the lake. Make sure to post your picture here.

Info from the towns website:

Chadwick Lake is a reservoir supplying water to the Town of Newburgh. It was created by damming Quassaick Creek in 1926. It is located immediately to the northwest of the junction of NY 32 and 300 in the Cronomer Valley section of the town. It is open to the public, and there are recreational facilities near the southern end.

Most of the town's water is supplied today by New York City's Delaware Aqueduct, with the reservoir acting primarily as a backup.

Facilities near the lake's southern end, include three picnic shelters, a playground, walking trails, boating launches, basketball courts and a roller rink. Fishing is also allowed on the lake; largemouth bass is a common catch.
