Geocache Description:

A series of caches to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Lowestoft to Great Yarmouth railway's closing.

The line ran just to the west of here, on it's way from Hopton to Gorleston Links Halt - both long gone and now the site of sprawling housing estates.

Onwards north - and again covered with housing, retail centres and the main A12 road - the line passed through Gorleston and terminated at the Southtown station in Great Yarmouth, close to Haven Bridge.

As holidays-with-pay became more widespread in the early 20th century, many holidaymakers would pack the platforms of this line on hot summer Saturdays.

This is a nano cache so please bring a pencil.

You can park in Hopton and walk north - or in Warren Road off Links Road and wander south.

This public footpath runs next to the local golf course so please keep dogs on leads and watch for the odd buggy riding muggle!

Take care when retrieving the cache and please leave exactly as found.
