Geocache Description:

A fun cache off the Fire Road near Montreat in the Pisgah Forest. - containing a camera so you can snap your picture while you're out there!

I placed my first geocahe out here on the fire road not long ago. Guess who was the FTF? A bear, of course! So I came back out to this area to check on it and decided to place another cache while I was here.

There are numerous caches out here off the Fire Road. If you've started at the beginning and found them all you're probably hot, sweaty, dirty, hungry, and bug bitten! - - the perfect time to snap a picture of your party! This cache contains, among other tradable items a disposable camera with the sole mission of capturing the picture of everyone who's found it. Please take ONE picture of your group (maybe with the beautiful mountain view in the background) and put the camera back in the cache. When the film is full, I'll develop it, scan the pictures, and post them on the cache's page (assuming a bear or the elements don't destroy it).

Please replace the camera in its ziplock baggie. And replace the cache as well as or better than you found it hidden. You are looking for a medium-sized, clear, cylindrical container with a blue twist on lid.

Also, if you look at the map page for this (and other caches in this area) you may notice that it LOOKS easier to approach from "the other side of the mountain". I tried this the last time I was out here. I drove down Parris Creek Road but it became a private drive half way down which is where I parked. I hiked up through the woods towards where my GPS indicated the later Fire Road caches were hidden. This was a difficult bushwack straight up a hill covered with stinging nettle and much bramble. Eventually, at the top of the hill, I found the railroad tracks. I followed them for a while, while also following my GPS. After about .3 miles I heard the river and cut off the tracks. From the river you can follow the trail that leads to the Fire Road. This cache is about .1 miles up from the track... If you choose to go that way. But I don't reccomend it. Though it's still Pisgah Forest and NOT private land, it was a difficult hike and I'd reccomend following the Fire Trail from its beginning on the main road.
