4.23. Unarchiving a Geocache

The archiving of a geocache is intended to be a permanent status. That is why only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ staff have the capability to unarchive it. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if it meets the current Geocache Listing Guidelines.

If a geocache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance it will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden in the Bill Watson Reserve.

This cache is also easily accessible via public transport - Sydney Buses route 549 Parramatta Station to Epping Station via North Rocks.

The Reserve was named after Bill Watson who ran a bus service along North Rocks Road from 1928 to 1956. This bus service ran from Beecroft Station to Parramatta via North Rocks Road was begun in 1924, and was taken over by Bill Watson in 1928. The Watsons had lived on North Rocks Road (the Westfield site) opposite the Public School, since 1923. They built a shed next to their house for the bus, which expanded to three buses by 1945. When Bill Watson was the only bus driver, he was remembered by the locals for collecting home deliveries from the Parramatta shops and always waiting for latecomers to board his bus. The bus run lasted until 1956 when it was incorporated into Harris Park Transport. Bill Watson continued to drive a Harris Park bus until his retirement in 1964. Bill Watson had also been an active member of the North Rocks Progress Association from 1923 until his death in 1968. In 1970 the North Rocks Progress Association acquired the Reserve and erected a plaque to his memory on the site he passed daily for over 48 years.
