Geocache Description:

THIS CACHE IS NOT AT THE GIVEN COORDINATES. The coordinates bring you to a tombstone in the Old Swedish Methodist Cemetery in Andover, Henry County, that gives you information for the cache coordinates located a few miles out of town along a country road.

This is another in the Illinois Spirit Quest series designed to bring you to cemeteries you might not otherwise see. The caches themselves are nothing special; rather, the cemeteries themselves are interesting to see. Because of its location in town, I did not feel comfortable placing a cache along the fenceline of this and another cemetery in town, so I placed the caches near each other west of town.

I suggest you gather information for this cache and the nearby Jenny Lind Chapel Cemetery: IL Spirit Quest #134 (GC2BWOY) before going out to find the caches, which are close together along a country road a few miles west of Andover.

The Old Swedish Methodist Cemetery, established in the 1850s, is a small cemetery that you can walk to (1/4 block walk) in the middle of a block. It is best to approach the cemetery from the east, where the sign in the second photo is located.

The coordinates will take you to a tombstone for Andrew S. Bengston on which his date of death appears. Figure out the coordinates for the final cache using the following information and formula:

x = day in July Andrew died ____ ____

y = year he died ____ ____ ____ ____

N 41° 17.(x + 493) W 090° 19.(y - 1683)

The cache itself is now a bison tube just off a quiet country road a few miles west of Andover. It is NOT in the dead tree trunk, so don't dig in it. This is meant to be an easy find.

Please bring your own pen, park safely, and enjoy!
