Rocky point beach Traditional Cache

Placed on a Rock at Rocky Point Beach,. It should be fairly easy to find. A little bit of hands on is required for the scramble up the rock, some caution required on the wet rocks leading to the big rock and up on the rock, tide level needs to be checked before you head out for the cache
The closest parking spot for this cache will be HWY 1 near the gate for the steep ravine cabins. There are a few roadside pullouts. You will have to hike about 1/2 miles with a elev. loss of 400 feet and the same way back up. Once you get close to the beach the location will be pretty obvious, watch for some POISON OAK on the use trails through the camp ground and the beach, getting down to the beach, head past the spot (south) on the use trail until you find a fairly easy way onto the beach, head up the beach (north) just past the rock for the easy crossing over the rocks, it should be very obvious where the easy way up is. YOU HAVE TO CHECK THE TIDES, I think it will be easy crossing at tides below 2.1/2 feet. be careful stepping over the rocks, watch out for the wet ones, LINK FOR TIDES http://www.saltwatertides.com/dynamic.dir/californiasites.html#bolinas Select Point Reyes and scroll down to select day / month etc. Rocky point beach is a state park area and you can camp there or rent a cabin, it goes by the name Steep Ravine Cabins , it is a part of Mt Tamalpais I like to make the beach my lunch spot, hiking from the Muir Woods to pantoll ranger station , down dipsea trail, to the beach and back up on steep ravine to pantoll and back to muir woods.
