An easy drive by cache close to the parking area at Mar Wick, more generally known as Marwick Bay. Please make sure the cache is replaced carefully so that it doesn't blow away particularly during winter storms!
Mar Wick is a very picturesque enclosed bay, which is of great interest to birdwatchers and walkers with walks in either direction from the cache. There is an RSPB reserve close including Marwick Head.
To the north of the bay stands a lonely crenallated tower built by public subscription to honour the memory of Lord Kitchener who was lost in June 1916, when the cruiser H.M.S. Hampshire sank nearby. Off the 667 officers and men on board, only 12 survived. The walk to the memorial gives super views along the cliffs and south towards the Island of Hoy. There is a circular route back to the car park near the cache.
The cache is a 35mm film canister with log and pencil.
