The Lord of the Rings is a story of good verses evil and revolves around the One Ring of power.

Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
A mortal wearing the One Ring was made effectively invisible except to those able to perceive the non-physical world, with only a thin, shaky shadow discernible in the brightest sunlight. The One Ring would also extend a mortal possessor's life indefinitely by preventing natural aging. It also physically corrupts mortals who wear it for extended periods of time, eventually transforming them into wraiths. Hobits proved to be resistant to this power of the One Ring though not exempt from it's influence. While wearing the One Ring the bearer was in great risk of being discovered by Sauron, and so there are many reasons to Beware the One Ring.
