Geocache Description:

Given that nearly everyone that is traveling past is in a 4WD, this cache is easy to get to. In good weather even 2WD vehicles can get here easily However, if it has been raining, the difficulty would jump to 5 as there may be a deep water crossing and the roads become muddy and slippery, so 4WD is a must. In saying that though, please check road conditions with local authorities (Marree Police) before attempting this cache as the roads can often be closed after much rain.

The Ruins of Lake Harry. Named Joan's Cache after my grandmother who lived here as a child. A very interesting site, make sure you read the information on the signs as you head into the ruins.

Lake Harry info.

When I placed this cache we were in a four vehicle/9-person convoy. All of us family and related to Joan in some way. It was good weather when we passed through on our way up the Birdsville Track to the Cooper creek. We got to the Cooper Creek then it rained and we were stranded there for 2 days. Roads all around us were closed and eventually we had to head back south as the northern roads remained shut. We came back past this cache with our cars covered in mud and then crossed a flowing creek, 0.6m deep just out of Marree. Made it there ok and one ute in our convoy was only 2WD! There are some old ruins in the area so please watch your step, look after our history and be wary of any loose stones around the buildings.
