The Penny Tree Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

masterninja: Going to archive this one after all this time. With the floods that happen in the spring no more of the actual penny tree, flooding took care of that one many years ago. Apparently the parks people have cleaned out the area of the bigger trees, hard to find another spot. Thanks to all those that have come to check out this cache, happy caching.

Geocache Description:

When I was hiking and geocaching in the Yorkshire Dales, I passed a number of "Coin Trees" or "Penny Trees" near Janet's Foss (GC1WYMC). People had pounded pennies, two-pences, and even some 5p and 10p coins into the dead trees or stumps, presumably for good luck.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered a coin tree in nearby Lion's Park on the southern edge of Clinton. There appear to be some Euro and UK coins in this one, along with a bunch of Canadian and US pennies (possibly a good use for them?). Since there are presently no other caches in this park, Ms. Eclectic and I decided to place one near this coin tree. The coin tree is about 60 feet along the trail toward the river from the cache site. Please try to remove the cache without moving the camouflage material. Or if you do, please replace it so that the cache won't be so likely to be muggled. Thanks. The co-ordinates are for the cache, which is on the north side of the trail (in case the co-ordinates from my GPSr are still incorrect). The coin tree is at the additional waypoint.
