Geocache Description:

This cache is placed as part of the Great Lakes Seaway Trail Geotrail, located within the Central Lake Ontario Region. There are 15 caches hidden within this region, but the program is over and they no longer have punch books or coins. So, this is just a regular cache now!

This cache will take you to an interesting historical location on the Seaway Trail located in Henrietta, NY. Feel free to stay for a tour of the cobblestone farmhouse. Below is more information regarding the site taken from the Tinker Homestead Web site. The director of the property is aware of this cache and looks forward to having people come visit this beautiful location.

The Tinker Family occupied this homestead for six generations. They witnessed the transformation of Western New York from a wooded frontier to a thriving community. As a result of the Erie Canal giving farmers access to new markets, the Tinkers could afford to build a new home. They chose to build a cobblestone house, a unique architectural style to Western New York. Construction started in 1828 and the house was completed in 1830. The interior of the house has been restored to the turn of the 20th century. Visitors will appreciate the practical yet elegant Victorian lifestyle of this rural family.

The Farm Museum charts the growth of agriculture in Western New York from subsistence to commercial farming. Visitors will understand how the Erie Canal forever changed the face of farming in New York state. The farm is composed of several structures that were important to the success of the Tinker Farm. The museum has an extensive collection of farm implements which chart the modernization of farming through the years.

This cache was placed with permission, and the person from the cobblestone house did help them pick the spot to hide it. There is no need to enter any garden area. The private entrance signs on the house are only to keep people out of the house itself, but it is ok to search for the cache nearby. It should be an easy find.
