This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

You seek a camo'd lock n lock just through the woods and only about 100 feet from where the original battle took place. Take the trail behind the 1817 burial monument along the fence behind the white house.

The cache contains some cool Revolutionary War items. Please do not remove the items unless you trade similiar Revolutionary War artifacts/items (out of respect for the soldiers that lost their lives here I would like to keep the integrity of the cache) however feel free to spend some time looking through the contents. The site is AWESOME and has many markers and informational signs. Enjoy!

This cache is located on the Paoli Battlefield. The Battle of Paoli was a battle in the Philadelphia campaign of the American Revolutionary War fought around midnight on September 20/21, 1777, in the area surrounding present-day Malvern, Pennsylvania. Following the American retreats at the Battle of Brandywine and the Battle of the Clouds, George Washington left a force under the command of Brigadier General Anthony Wayne behind in order to monitor and harass the British as they prepared to move on the revolutionary capital of Philadelphia. British forces under the command of Major General Charles Grey led a surprise attack on Wayne's encampment. General Gray instructed his soldiers to remove their flints and fight with bayonets only which made for a gruesome sight. The scene was said to be so brutal that it was named "The Paoli Massacre." General Wayne's unit lost 237 killed/wounded/captured that night, many of them asleep in their tents when the ambush started.
