Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Ernie Maxwell Trail (EMT) series of caches. Ernie Maxwell was the founder of the Idyllwild Town Crier and one of Idyllwild’s leading conservationists. His trail is a woodsy, 2 1/2-mile path through the San Jacinto Mountains. To build it, Maxwell got cooperation from the U.S. Forest Service and from Riverside County convicts, who provided the labor. The Ernie Maxwell Scenic Trail was completed in 1959.

An “Adventure Pass” is required to park at Humber Park. The EMT series can be accessed without a pass by starting at the lower end of the trail off Tahquitz View Road (dirt).

Cache container is made of PVC plastic pipe. Please replace where found to maintain cover.
