Geocache Description:

A magnetic nanocache that is accessible from a wheelchair, though it might be necessary to have help in reaching the cache itself. Stealth will be required as this is on a busy road near to a school. It is advisable to avoid school drop-off (8.30-9.00am) and pick up (3.00-3.30pm) times.

Parking is available in the nearby pub car park and on the street.

This is a site of local interest known as Robin Hood's Stone. There are a number of theories about the origin of the stone including the information you will find at the site.

Before being moved in August 1928 it was in a nearby field called Stone Hey. It has been suggested that this field was where Richard Molyneux's men practised archery and the stone was used as a sharpening stone. Sir Richard Molyneux distinguished himself at the Battle of Agincourt and it was for this service that he was knighted by Henry V. The Molyneux family were the Earls of Sefton whose family seat was Croxteth Hall.
