Run To The Wall/Rolling Thunder is an annual motorcycle trek that starts in California in the middle of May and ends with a parade to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C (THE WALL), Memorial Day weekend. The term ‘Rolling Thunder’ is based on the roar of approximately 250,000 cycles that participate in this parade by veterans and supporters of their cause.
The first time we remember going to see this event was at Fair Road off of 1-70 near Abilene, KS probably in the early 1990’s. It was just our dad, a WWII vet and the rest of the family and we took every flag in the house. Over the years, it has now grown to be a must-do thing in our family, the week before Memorial Day when they travel through Kansas on their way to The Wall. Come rain or shine, our little support team includes, young & old, family & friends and the very patriotic. It has since been moved to Flag Rd (ironically) for safety reasons where we spread out with the POW/MIA and American flags in force.

Their cause:
* Mission Statement: To promote healing among ALL veterans and their families and friends, to call for an accounting of all Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action (POW/MIA), to honor the memory of those Killed in Action (KIA) from all wars, and to support our military personnel all over the world.
Philosophy: We strive to maintain a safe, supportive and private atmosphere in which all participants can reflect and heal on their journey to the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. in the hope that they can return home to a new beginning.
Goals:
1. To guide the participants across America.
2. To educate future generations as to the importance of accountability in wartime actions emphasizing that no one should be left behind.
3. To participate in Rolling Thunder in support of their demand for government accountability for POW/MIA's.

Our wish is to see patriotic support on every bridge and overpass across America during Run For The Wall and on Memorial Day weekend in Washington, D.C., for ROLLING THUNDER.
This is a traditional cache filled with lots of goodies, geocoins and TB’s. A special TB, ‘ROLLING THUNDER’ has been placed in honor of these dedicated men and women that give their time and support with the hope that it makes it to THE WALL in Washington, D.C to be photographed and to visit patriotic and military type caches along the way.
Even though this is a relatively easy cache,
CAUTION IS ADVICED IN RETRIEVING IT. There is a steep decline
nearby, some barbwire and not recommended for children. You WILL
NOT have to go below the bridge to get this. Please DO NOT park on
the bridge or access this cache from Interstate I-70. There is a
place on both sides of the bridge to pull over. This is a very high
muggle area…please use stealth!!
This cache is placed in loving memory of our father, Jack L Mitchell, 1918-2002.
FTF goes to HeathzOr...Congratulations!!
