Geocache Description:


It seemed like a good idea at the time. I'm sure that'swhatthedeveloper and the bank that financed this project are saying to themselves now.

In early 2007 the real estate market and the economy were at about the height of the boom. That's when the building of this strip mall began and where this cache's name comes in to play. Well, we all know what happened in late 2008. It's open to some debate but there are some signs that perhaps that the economy is finally starting to recover. The housing and real estate market however, may not fully recover for a decade.

Who knows when this strip mall may see its first tenant. But until then maybe we Geocachers can at least put this area to some use!

We're starting this cache off with some Geopins, spare batteries, and some other cache swag.

*Update:  There is life in the complex now.  After this strip mall sat empty for more than two years Murphy's Law has made sure that just 2 months after placing this cache the strip mall gets it's first and probably its second occupant.  The first tenant is a bank - and of course - they picked the closest spot to the cache.  This is all good news for the owners of this strip mall and a good sign for the economy perhaps, but this is a bad sign for this cache.  I will be monitoring the site.

 I was just leaving work late after a meeting when I received the e-mail. I arrived at 7:18pm and made the quick find. WooHoo my 40th FTF!!! I would like to dedicate this FTF to prestonsfolk, my sister, on her birthday. She is the one who introduced me to geocaching. Thanks Sis!! Happy Birthday!! Swapped TB's. Thanks for the new cache and the FTF!!
