This reflector cache is a tribute memorial cache to my father, John, who first brought me to this area in 1964, and it has been my second home since that time. My whole family has grown up with this area as their second home also and we all love to come here as often as we can.
CACHE IS NOT LOCATED AT POSTED COORDINATES.
This is a reflector Cache located in the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. The parking area by the starting point is not required to have a recreational pass that is required in most of this area. Cache needs to be done at night time and will require a good flashlight to complete.
All reflectors in this cache are 2" round reflectors.
2 reds start you out, yellow-orange are the route to take, 2 other reds are the cache location and blue reflectors take you back to the where you can easily walk back to the parking area.
Always go to the closest next reflector, because depending on conditions, you may see the distant reflection of another marker. Also note that there are other reflective material in the area, but my route takes the round markers between 6 and 10 feet high on the trees, always.
Placed for the children to have a chance to do a reflector cache without being put into the deep dark throws of this area like some of the other reflector caches around the Flaming Gorge area.
This cache is located between two major roads and so you must follow the instructions to find the cache location.
To start, located the coordinates and shine light to find 2 Red Reflectors. Go to the base of the reflectors and shine light to locate a yellow-orange reflector (about 100 yards to the south-east). Go to that location and shine light to next yellow-orange reflector and proceed to that location. Follow the yellow-orange reflectors until you come to another double red reflector location. Cache is located at this second double red reflector. Cache is a large ammo box, not the normal size box you may be used to seeing. Please insure that the box is covered as well or better than you found it.
Follow the blue reflectors out to the parking area for a quick exit once found.
This cache is stocked with small stuffed animals that you may or may not find in this forest, but at night time you may see many wildlife creatures as you drive to this location.
There are other reflectors in this area from the roads and cross country ski trails, but these reflectors are distinctly colored and easy to distinquise from the others in the area. Always go to the closest one you see.
