Geocache Description:

A nice hike on the top side of the Reservoir.

The Loch Raven Reservoir Watershed; just north of Baltimore City, is one of the most strikingly beautiful locations in the Baltimore Metro area. Entering the watershed and leaving the city behind is a welcome event for sports & recreation enthusiasts. The reservoir does much more than provide water for millions of people; it provides a pleasant escape from the stressors of everyday life.

An old paved roadbed (fire road) provides access from available parking less than a mile away. Caution should be exercised during hunting season as this area is part of the Maryland DNRs “Managed Bow Hunting” program.

Areas of the Loch Raven Reservoir are open to bow hunting for deer during the regulated hunting season as established by the Maryland Wildlife & Heritage Service. This area is open to hiking, bird watching, nature photography & geocaching. East of this area is a skeet & trap club where you may at times hear shooting; don't be concerned -- they're across the water and shooting away from this area.
