Geocache Description:

Berna Eli "Barney" Oldfield (June 3, 1878 - October 4, 1946)
was born on a farm just outside of Wauseon, Ohio.
He went on to become this nation's first great automobile racer.
As most of this races were on dirt roads, this series pays homage to him by placing caches around Fulton County only on dirt and stone roads. Enjoy!

On June 20, 1903, at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indiana, Oldfield became the first driver to run a mile track in one minute flat or 60 miles per hour (97 km/h). Two months later, he drove a mile in 55.8 seconds at the Empire City Race Track in Yonkers, New York.
