Geocache Description:


Berna Eli "Barney" Oldfield (June 3, 1878 - October 4, 1946)
was born on a farm just outside of Wauseon, Ohio.
He went on to become this nation's first great automobile racer.
As most of this races were on dirt roads, this series pays homage to him by placing caches around Fulton County only on dirt and stone roads. Enjoy!



Oldfield bought a Benz,
and raised his speed in 1910 to 70.159 mph (112.910 km/h) in his "Blitzen Benz". Later that year he drove to 131.25 mph (211.23 km/h).
