How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

We have Motorway Mayhem. We have A-Road Anarchy (cos there aren’t many Motorways in Wales!). But what about public transport users? SideTracked Caches are intended to provide quick Cache-and-dashes at Train Stations.

It is hoped this idea will spread across the country in the same way as the MMs….but if hiding one PLEASE BE SENSIBLE and remember that in this day and age, public transport is under greater scrutiny than ever before, so, although these caches should be quick and easy grabs, PLEASE don’t place a Cache where it could cause alarm!!!

A cache and dash just outside the station on a footpath. No need to hunt around but be stealthy. This is a very busy area all day and is overlooked by factory units. you need to look at road signs

Historically two railway stations have borne the name Coleshill, the first was on the Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway (later part of the Midland Railway), opened in 1839 and running from Derby to Hampton-in-Arden via Whitacre Heath. However, in 1840 a new line from Whitacre into Birmingham was opened and became the favoured route, and so the Whitacre to Hampton section, including Coleshill, was demoted to a little-used branch line, known as the Stonebridge Railway, being reduced to single track in 1841 and closing to passengers in 1917 as a wartime economy measure. On the Whitacre to Birmingham stretch was a station called Forge Mills; this was renamed Coleshill in 1923 (the original station on the Hampton line, still in use as a freight facility until 1935, was simultaneously renamed Maxstoke), but this second Coleshill station, the former Forge Mills, closed in March 1968.

The new station was originally scheduled to open in March 2007, though construction delays led to the scheme running approximately sixteen weeks behind schedule. However, the station opened on Sunday 19 August 2007. The station is currently operated by London Midland, though only served by CrossCountry trains.

This is my 20th Cache so I have made it a special one, I hope you enjoy
