McLaren Falls Park consists of 190 hectares of lakeland park set amongst pastoral farming and horticulture containing one of the best botanical collections of trees in the North Island. The lake offers year-round trout fishing for those who hold a fishing licence. The park provides plenty of open space, stunning views and numerous meandering tracks through areas of native bush interspersed with exotic trees that provide spectacular autumn and spring colours. Visitors are encouraged to walk around the park and explore everything it has to offer.
Directions...To get to the Park from Tauranga, take State Highway 29, which is the main road to Hamilton, then turn left into McLaren Falls Road.
The park is patrolled by Park Rangers, and slow vehicle access is available throughout the park providing easy access to picnic areas. BBQs are free!
Open - 7.30am. Close - Winter 5.30pm / Summer 7.30pm.
A 10-minute climb on a good track will take you to the cache location, where you will be rewarded with one of the best outlooks in the park.
