Llanfrechfa Two: Church to river
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
A multicache which takes you from the Church to the Afon Lwyd river. All points are on public footpaths, although an easier route would be via the narrow lane. The public footpath ends at a barbed wire fence! The footpath joins the lane at the railway line.
Do not try and drive to the actual cache as there is no vehicular access!
There is one stiles and one kissing gate, and a railway line has to be crossed, which makes this cache unfriendly for wheelchairs and buggies.Car parking for 2 or 3 cars is usually available about 100 yards from the church.
The first virtual cache is a gravestone in the Church graveyard, the co-ords are listed at the top of the page. Find the middle name of Hilda Critchley, and convert it into numbers using the keypad of a mobile phone (abcdefghi).
Next nearby, find the bench dedicated to Norman Johnson at N51°38.abc W02°59.01f.
Norman Johnson lived 1921 - jklm.
Now walk (or drive) from the Church back to the main road. There is a small car park closeby in an old schoolyard.
On the sign at N51°38.bdk W02°59.bkj, Llantarnam is 0.n km. (Sign now disappeared; answer n=8)
Nearby, at N51°38.bdg W02°59.akh, what is the year mentioned in concrete (opqr)?
The actual cache can be found, hidden at N51°3m.pnh W02°5r.5q(k-g), which is about half a mile away. A railway line has to be crossed, so take great care. It is still on a public footpath.
Also, I suggest that you do not take your dogs with you because several homes along the trail have hightly vocal and ferocious looking dogs.
Cache is a regular size sandwich box inside a cammo bag.
Well done juxtapoz being ftf!
