Fort Sullivan Powder House Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

tracker16: We are sorry to have to archive this cache!! So many people will miss out seeing this historic area.
We did have permission from the local historic society with their blessing hoping to bring more people to their town and new historic site
Unfortunatly the locals in this area do not want the cache here and we think have taken steps to remove it as the cache has been replaced four (4) times and has gone missing within 24 hrs.
Thanks to our buddy Karon who has been our man on the ground in Eastport.

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Shortly after the capture of Eastport during the War of 1812, the British troops of the 102nd regiment of Foot set to work improving the fort for a counter attack by the Americans. For safety reasons the British-built magazine was placed a good distance from the blockhouse. The walls were constructed of stone three feet thick with an arched roof made of layers of brick.

Due to the fragile nature of the powder house we have NOT placed the cache in or around the walls.
Cache is log only so BYOP.
There is parking at the site on McKinley St.
Please enjoy the area and take some time and enjoy the main historic areas of this wonderful old town of Eastport.
