Cache is at a spillway of scenic Mother Brook in the Hyde Park section of Boston. It is a plastic container wrapped in brown tape, about the size of a 35 mm film canister. Contents are logbook, pencil nub and three small charm buttons. This is one of my 3-part Mother Brook series, along with GC2D7V3 and GC2D7VB.
Two parking suggestions: 1) intersection of Readville and Knight Streets (N 42.14.729, W 71.08.001) or 2) use one of the 10 or so marked "Visitor Parking" spots to the right of the nearby brick apartment building on River St. These spaces may belong to the building but there are no signs prohibiting parking in them and I parked there while placing the cache without a problem. The cache itself is on public property. Please be discrete + wait for muggles to pass.
I will provide an open hint, which will be enough for hardy hunters, and the encrypted hint below in case you need clarification. The open hint is: "1) find prison-like drain at GZ, 2) roots, downstream about 15 ft."
Mother Brook is the modern name for a mostly man-made stream that flows from the Charles River in Dedham, MA to the Neponset River in the Hyde Park section of Boston. The man-made portion is considered to have been the first canal in America dug by English settlers. Because there is a 40-foot drop in water level between the Charles and the Neponset, Mother Brook provided an important source of power for mills from falling water from 1639 into the early 20th century. Today it’s a nice place to walk, bike, and kayak. Enjoy the views on both sides of the spillway and watch out for the resident Canada Geese LOL!
