NCN NR6 - The Navigation Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Fingolfin_UK: Checked this one while cycling past in Route 6. Cannot see cache and there has been lots of wood sawing & clearing in the area. Therefore I'm archiving this cache - it's done well over the years.

Geocache Description:

Camoflaged film pot.

The cache is hidden just off the Sustrans National Cycle Network (NCN) Route 6, which runs from Derby to York (via Nottingham). This path is very popular with cyclists and pedestrians (particularly dog walkers) so stealth will be required.

It is located on the route of the former Derby Canal which was completed in 1795. It was closed in 1964 after competition from the railways had reduced canal traffic considerably. In 1994, the Derby and Sandiacre Canal Society was formed to work towards reopening this canal.

The nearby public house "The Navigation" was obviously so named because of its proximity to the canal. It has a beer garden which is surrounded by several different species of tree, including willows!
