Geocache Description:

This is the 9th in a series of caches highlighting some of the work that Ducks Unlimited does.

The concrete water control structure on the outlet to the lake maintains water levels high enough to support a healthy population of Kamloops trout. (only fishers under 16 and over 60 may fish this lake). The structure allows DU to maintain relatively stable water levels during the breeding season for waterfowl, yet provides downstream benefits for the ranching community later in the season when water is needed at lower levels. On the drive to this cache, one passes through the Grasslands Provincial Park, a ranching area protected by the Nature Conservancy of Canada, McQueen Lake Environmental Education Center and the Isobel Lake Demonstration Forest. This is an enormous area of protected land that Ducks Unlimited is proud to be a part of.
