In 1940 this grinding stone was erected by the local chapter of the D. A. R. in memory of the early settlers of Jones County. Old Clinton was the site of a tannery from 1808 to 1906 & this is one of four stones used to grind bark for the tanning process. Cache is a small lock-n-lock with trading items & logbook. FTF prize is a Geocache decal for your car. Congratulations to quikdrw63 for FTF! Great work, Cache on!
