A spot in this part of the country that is worth stopping for. This massive dam and powerhouse was completed in 1984 with the concrete dam measuring an impressive 175m (575 feet) high.
The logging museum is located at the entrance to the visitors roadway to the dam.
Both facilities have something to offer to many folks - young and a little older. It is only 5 kilometers (3.7 miles) off the Trans Canada Highway on Highway 23 North. Adequate signage is posted. Worth the visit.
The Revelstoke Dam Visitor Centre will welcome you and your family with a wide range of exhibits and activities seven days a week May through Thanksgiving , 10 am - 5 pm. Cost runs $5/6. I highly recommend this visit.
The logging museum is open Wednesday to Sunday May through September. Cost $5. Another great stop.
The cache -a small plastic pill container - is hidden in a spot that will give you a great view of the dam and, if you look behind you, to the south, a splendid view of Mount Begbie which rises 2,732 metres or 8,963 feet above sea level. Still shows off a glacier which is slowly disappearing.
