This is now a multi-cache. At the above coordinates you will be
looking for a small black water sample bottle. In that bottle is a
sticky note pad with the coordinates for the 2nd stage. At the 2nd
stage you will find some rocks. Assign “A” to the
number of small rocks and “B” to the number of large
rocks. Enter “A” and “B” into the following
formula to find the final cache which is the original
“Applejack’s Dream” ammo can with the same
original numbers in the lid needed to find
“Billy-Jack’s Smart Ass Cache” (GCH3JT).
N 46 26.(B-1),B,(A-B-1) W 114

I know the Forest Service will now be happy and you will still
have to go to Glen Lake which was the REAL purpose of this cache.
Enjoying their wilderness forests and lakes is what it is all
about!
This cache is located at one of my favorite horseback ride
destinations. It takes a little over an hour one way (3 miles) from
the trailhead (N46*26.139 W114*15.131) to the lake. The elevation
of the trailhead is 6660 feet and the elevation of the lake is 7550
feet. The highest point of the trail is about 7800 feet. This
pristine mountain lake is one of many such jewels in these
mountains. It is a great place to camp for a night or more. You may
want to hike all the way around the lake (not much of a real trail)
and/or follow the trail around the northeast side of Glenn Lake up
to “Rich Lake” to the north. I do not see any name for
this lake on the maps and so it may as well be named for me! I will
give you ten extra points if you include in your log that you did
visit "Rich Lake"
The trail to the lake is largely through a burned area but there
is a lot of beauty in that! It is interesting to see how the forest
returns after a fire. It is interesting to see how some trees were
spared from the fire in locations that one would not have expected
that to be. I do not see many seedling trees yet but the area is
mostly in the stage of recovery with grasses becoming the main
vegetation. We can count our blessings in that there are still many
trees in the areas around the lake where we like to camp.
Applejack is a registered Appaloosa gelding. He is a great trail
horse and he and I have many many miles together. Jeremy and Terri
(Dairymedic) and I rode up and placed this cache. Jeremy rode
“Happy” and Terri rode “DeJavu” and I rode
“Applejack” leading “Billy-Jack”. As most
of you know “Billy-Jack” is the smartest ass I have
ever had! And of course “Ben” kept us safe from all the
bears, tigers and elephants along the way.We had a great day - we
enjoyed roasted cheddar sausages with all the fixins at the lake
and then we were chased home by a storm - and we lost! It caught up
with us about a mile from the trailhead - first with Hail and then
with rain. We did not let that dampen our great fun day! All the
horses and our ass behaved great!
The reviewer sugested I mention "Leave no Trace" and so I do
sugest you put a diaper on your horse and dog so that you will
"leave no Trace"!
Update 6/11/2023: I have adopted the late MrGrubstake's AppleJack's Dream Cache II. This cache has special meaning as my late husband, Jeremy and I rode horses with MrGrubstake to retrieve the orginal AppleJack's Dream Cache from Glenn Lake. We rode back with MrGrubstake as he placed this one.
