montaukjen: All good things must come to an end and, sadly, this cache is no exception. I will always hold the memories made here very close to my heart. 💔

This cache is located at one of my favorite places, Hither Hills State Park. Cache is a small camoed container with log only. Bring your own pen. Parking is available for $10in the summer and free off season. Although a steep price to pay for Geocaching, it is worth the trip to spend the day at the beach and use all the amenities. This is one of 3 caches within walking distance from parking area.
Hither Hills State Park offers visitors scenic picnic areas and fireplaces, sport fishing, a sandy ocean beach, playing fields, a playground and a 168-site campground on the ocean. Anglers can fish year-round and obtain permits to fish at night. The unique "walking dunes" of Napeague Harbor are located on the eastern boundary of the park, which also has woodlands filled with Russian olive, oak, shad and pine trees. Bridle paths and hiking, nature, biking and cross-country ski trails are available. ***Area is very accessible if you find the correct access. Do not attempt from Old Montauk Highway.
