Geocache Description:

This well camouflaged cache is located near a book/school supply store, since the original diary happened to end up in a young witch's basket while back to school shopping for Hogwarts. Voldemort was known to employ sophisticated magic to protect his Horcruxes, so this cache is not as it appears. Young wizards may require the use of their brooms to access this cache. There's a log only, so bring a pen. Please replace cache exactly as you found it, and of course, watch out for muggles!! Thanks!

CONGRATS mmarmont on FTF!!! We pulled in just as you were putting it back. :) -3snitchseekers

SPOILER ALERT for the rare individual who has not already read the Harry Potter series, you may not wish to read the following information.

From (visit link)

“A Horcrux is an object in which a Dark wizard or witch has hidden a fragment of his or her soul for the purpose of attaining immortality.[1] Constructing a Horcrux is considered Dark magic of the foulest, most evil kind, as it violates laws of nature and morality, and requires a horrific act as well as murder to accomplish. The first Horcrux was created by Herpo the Foul.[2] Lord Voldemort is the only known wizard to have created more than one.”

Horcrux #1: The Diary

First Appeared: Harry Potter 2
Destroyed: Harry Potter 2
Hidden: with Lucius Malfoy
After murdering: Myrtle (Moaning Myrtle)

Appearing in the second book (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets), it was our first and best look into the power of a horcrux. Ginny Weasley found the diary and poured her heart and soul into its pages. Soon, she had given the Tom Riddle inside the diary enough of herself, that he could control her. He made her do things like write on the wall of the school and kill roosters in the grounds. In the end, he brought her down to the Chamber of Secrets in order to gain enough power from her to create a body of his own.

Harry Potter goes to save her, but has to fight a basilisk. The basilisk bit Harry on the arm, but was saved by Fawkes the phoenix, whose tears have healing powers. He then stabbed the diary with the fang that had before been in his arm. The diary, along with the Tom Riddle in the Chamber, was destroyed. In the sixth book, we find out that this is the first horcrux to be destroyed.
