Skotten i Ådalen 1931 har nog de flesta hört talas om men ett mindre kännt faktum är att det hela började just i Marmaverken. Det var arbetarna på Marma-Långrör ABs sulfatfabrik som strejkade i protest mot sänkta löner och kravallerna i Ådalen började som en sympatistrejk till händelsen i Marma.
Orten grundades i mitten på 1800-talet runt en framväxande sågverksindustri. På 1920-talet så byggdes industrin ut med en sulfatfabrik som var en av Europas största. Sulfatfrabriken lades ned i slutet av 1980-talet och det har gjort att orten nu tyvärr har förlorat en stor del av sin befolkning. Kvar av den större industrin finns nu Rundvirke AB som håller till i närheten av cachen.
I närheten finns även en pizzeria samt en secondhandaffär för de som är intresserade av sånt.

Marmaverken was once the home of a booming industry, firstly through the extensive logging industry in the mid 1800's and then as the home of one of Europe's largest sulfatefactories.
A strike, brought on by the threat of lowered wages, resulted in strikes in other parts of Sweden which lead to the Ådalenriots in 1931 that cost five workers their life in a clash with the military.
Marmaverken was founded around the growing industry and as the industry died out in the late 1980's so did a lot of the community.
Close to the cache is a pizza restaurant as well as a secondhand shop.
